Wando Library’s creative spaces can turn a box of old media into a manageable project
Ask about training and format compatibility before bringing photographs, slides or tapes to the Mount Pleasant branch.

A box of photographs or tapes often needs a smaller first step than a plan to digitize everything. Wando Mount Pleasant Library’s Creative Studio information includes media archiving alongside recording, design and editing resources, giving eligible patrons a place to ask how to begin.
The branch is at 1400 Carolina Park Boulevard. Creative-space users must be Charleston County residents with a valid county library card and meet the rules for the space they need. Creative Studio 2 is for adults eighteen and older after scheduled training and a waiver. Digital-space training and use require appointments, with separate age and accompaniment rules.

Contact studio staff with the format and condition of the material before bringing it in. Ask what equipment is suitable, how much time a small test might take and how to save the result. A listed archiving capability is not a promise that staff will convert an entire collection for you or that every tape is compatible.
Begin with one item whose story you can identify. Keep a note of names, approximate dates and where the original came from, and check the saved file before moving on. A few usable, well-described files can be a stronger start to a family archive than a large folder of images whose context has already been lost.
